Fred Lowrie won caps for England while at Batley or Wakefield Trinity in 1889 against New Zealand Natives, and in 1890 against Wales.[4]
Fred Lowrie represented Yorkshire while at Wakefield Trinity.[5]
When Batley, and Wakefield Trinity converted from the rugby union code to the rugby league code on 29 August 1895, Fred Lowrie would have been 27 years of age. Consequently, he may have been both a rugby union and rugby league footballer for Batley and/or Wakefield Trinity.
Although born in Wakefield, sources state that Fred Lowrie either played his club rugby for Batley, and/or Wakefield Trinity.
